Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) was founded in 2015 with the vision of being a leading science high school promoting wisdom, research, and technology for the nation’s sustainable development. The name Kamnoetvidya, which means “the genesis of knowledge,” was bestowed on the school by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Since its inception, the school has received more than 5,000 applications from students nationwide for its limited 72 seats yearly. Only online applications are accepted, normally around August and September each year for the new academic year of the following year. There are two rounds of examinations, with the second-round admission test culminating with a practicum testing students’ practical knowledge in scientific and mathematical problems.

Examinations

In the first round of examination, applicants will be tested in two compulsory subjects: mathematics and science.

For convenience, 11 local school centers around the country have been authorized to be the school’s test centers.

Admission Announcement (First round)

The admission results for the shortlisted 300 students will be announced at www.kvis.ac.th.

 

The second round of examination will again be based on two compulsory subjects: mathematics and science. In this round, students will have to undergo further complex problems focusing on their problem-solving skills and practical skills in science. In addition to this, each student must submit a portfolio demonstrating their participation in their school’s extracurricular activities as well as any recognitions received from competitions.

Portfolio considerations are:
 

  • High potential in science and mathematics projects.
  • Show consistency and excellence in mathematics and science subjects.
  • Demonstrate interests and high potential in Arts and Social Science such as Thai language, English language, music, performing arts, sports, etc.
  • Possess leadership skills as well as having the ability to be a good team player.
  • Demonstrate public consciousness and have volunteered in community activities etc.

Supporting documents include certificates, awards, invitation letters, photos, etc. must be attached in the portfolio.

 

Admission Announcement (Final round)

The admission results will be announced on the school’s website at www.kvis.ac.th. The final 72 scholars will then undergo a 3-week pre-sessional camp prior to the new academic year to acclimatize with their new boarding school environment, and their studies that are conducted in English.

  • Thai Nationality
  • Current grade nineth student
  • An average GPA of 3.50 in mathematics and sciences subjects in grades seventh and eighth.
    A cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 and above.
  • Have received awards in International and/or national mathematics and science competitions.  
  • Able to live in a boarding school and conforms to the school’s rules and regulations.

All 72 shortlisted students will receive the scholarship. Students do not have to pay tuition. Education maintenance fee Accommodation and food costs in any way.
